Zend Technologies, Ltd. Wednesday announced Zend Accelerator version 2.0, an advanced version of its Zend Cache performance enhancer for PHP-driven Web applications.

Zend believes the total cost of ownership that comes with the upgrade is minimal, and the resulting increased performance will makes the savings completely transparent to users.

The Zend Accelerator’s built-in performance monitor enables system administrators to measure the speed-up experienced by actual site visitors in real-time. Results are displayed in graphically.

Accelerator features, like memory usage, are customized and managed via a control panel. Its code optimizer performs a multi-pass optimization for more efficient code utilization.

“The Zend Accelerator delivers an ROI of four to six months on average, far better than conventional hardware solutions,” said Doron Gerstel, Zend CEO and president. “Not only does it increase performance significantly, it also reduces memory usage, and hardware resources and enables more concurrent users without slowing down traffic.”

The Zend Accelerator will be available on Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD.
