Sybase Adds Real-Time Translation Solution to Portal

Sybase on Tuesday announced the addition of SDL International’s Enterprise Translation Server into its Portal Translation Manager option.

Portal Translation Manager will be available with Sybase Enterprise Portal v2.0.

Sybase on Tuesday announced the addition of SDL International’sEnterprise Translation Server into its Portal Translation Manager option.

It will provide real-time translations of documents or data flowing through the portal on request, and it is fully integrated with portal security and other services.

Sybase currently offers an evaluation version of Enterprise Translation Server to customers as part of its Portal Translation Manager. The Enterprise Translation Server provides Portal Translation Manager clients with a cross-language communication solution using real-time translation.

Enterprise Portal is a customizable tool that integrates global business IT systems and personalizes them for the Web. By integrating Enterprise Translation Server into the portal offering, Sybase’s solution is able to translate portal applications, and intranet and Web pages in real time, thus allowing enterprises to deliver information and communicate with customers, suppliers, and employees in multiple languages.

“Multinational [enterprises] now realize that the success of any globalization strategy will depend heavily upon their ability to effectively communicate across the numerous languages on the Internet in real-time,” said Mark Lancaster, chairman and chief executive of SDL International.

“With the integration of the Enterprise Translation Server into the Portal Translation Manager, Sybase offers its customers a powerful real-time cross-language solution that will enable them to communicate to a global audience instantly,” Lancaster added.

Enterprise Translation Server is priced starting at $25,000. Portal Translation Manager is priced starting at $29,995 and is available with 24×7 support.
