RLX Ships Red Hat Linux on ServerBlades

RLX Technologies this week began offering customers another choice of operating systems when it started shipping Red Hat Linux 7.1 preloaded on RLX ServerBlades.

“Since our May announcement of the RLX System 324 Web Server, we’ve had a growing number of customers requesting Red Hat Linux be preinstalled on ServerBlades,” RLX president and COO Mike Swavely said in a prepared statement.

RLX Technologies this week began offering customers another choice of operating systems when it started shipping Red Hat Linux 7.1 preloaded on RLX ServerBlades.

“RLX ServerBlades with Red Hat Linux provides customers with rapid deployment,
maximum reliability, and outstanding performance,” Swavely added.

“Red Hat is excited about our role in helping RLX advance the emerging market for high-density server blades,” said Paul Cormier, executive vice president of Engineering, Red Hat.

An RLX ServerBlade with Red Hat Linux 7.1 pre-installed is priced at $1,534. Through September 30, RLX is offering the System 324 Chassis and three ServerBlades with Red Hat Linux 7.1 pre-loaded for a reduced price of $4,549.

RLX targets the System 324 at Internet data centers and Web hosting providers. The product is designed to enable organizations to gain significant new advantages over conventional 1U servers with five-to-ten times less power consumption, the capacity for eight times as many servers in the same space, and four times the number of Web pages served per square feet.

The System 324 is being sold through RLX’s direct sales force +1 866 759 9866 and through the company’s Web site.

The System 324 is also available through IBM’s Web Server Division +1 512 838 5626 and to government organizations through IES +1 301 581 1098.
