Mitel Networks Corp. Monday announced it had partnered with Trend Micro to offer a network and security solution to small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) and remote offices.

Under the terms of the partnership, enterprises that deploy Mitel Networks’ SME Server V5 with ServiceLink will receive continuous server-based virus protection from Trend Micro to detect and eliminate viruses and malicious code.

Mitel Networks Corp. Monday announced it had partnered with Trend Micro to offer a network and security solution to small and midsize enterprises (SMEs) and remote offices.

“Our partnership with Trend Micro, a world leader in Internet gateway security, demonstrates the benefits of our approach to delivering integrated network solutions using best-of-breed technology and services from leading providers,” said Kim Morrison, general manager, Network Server Solutions Group, Mitel Networks.

“Along with the other security enhancements offered by ServiceLink, Trend Micro’s antivirus technology ensures the integrity of our customers’ mission-critical data,” Morrison added.

ServiceLink’s antivirus features provide real-time scanning of all inbound and outbound e-mail, scanning of files compressed with all major compression technologies, protection from the macro- and script-based virus threats, and maintenance of an activity log that details each infected file and attempted security violation. Regular updates of the virus pattern file, along with emergency updates on an as-needed basis, are downloaded automatically from Mitel Networks’ Network Operations Center to the enterprise’s on-premise server.

“Faced with the recent onslaught of viruses and malicious code, small companies are quickly recognizing that managed virus protection, backed by Trend Micro’s 24×7 service and support infrastructure, is a viable alternative to traditional antivirus solutions managed in-house by an IT staff,” said Mike Conner, president of Trend Micro’s North American Operations.

ServiceLink is priced at $175 per month with a 12-month subscription, or $595 for three months. The ServiceLink Base Pack includes 24 x 7 alerts and reporting, virus protection, guaranteed e-mail and DNS services. As a special introductory offer, Mitel Networks is bundling its IPSEC VPN Pack with the Base Pack for the rest of this year.
