SetUp Error 1722, when doing CD Version of Service Pack 1
by Andy Goodman
This latest article in Andy Goodman’s Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 series discusses one possible cause and solution for SetUp Error 1722.
If you are getting Error 1722 shown below, I have a probable reason and solution for you. This one had me stumped for quite a while. There is currently no KB article directly covering it.
Details of this error message read as follows:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MsiInstaller
Event Category: None
Event ID: 11722
Date: 10/30/2002
Time: 3:35:45 PM
User: N/A
Computer: SBS-Server
Description:
Product: Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 Service Pack 1 — Error
1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as
part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or
package vendor. Action CallOutlookAdminInstall,location:
C:DOCUME~1ADMINI~1LOCALS~1TempMSI15.tmp, command: LaunchOLK.exe
The most likely reason for this is error is that you have previously installed Office onto the SBS Server from an Admin Share. Now Outlook wants to be installed from the same location, even though it is an Admin Install that the Service Pack does. The Service Pack must do the install from its CD Set, not the Office install share.
I was able to fix this by uninstalling Office from the SBS Server. I removed the Client install, not the Admin install. I then reran the SP1 setup from the
CD, and then reinstalled the Office Client from the Admin Share Point.
Hope this was helpful!
