This latest version of the popular app server offers enhancements to ColdFusion’s development, administration, and performance features.

An integrated charting engine, advanced full-text searching, and new language features enable faster development of business applications. New administrative tools reduce the time and costs for deploying and managing ColdFusion applications. The server also delivers a significant performance increase, with some applications running as much as three times faster than on the previous version.
“ColdFusion Server 5 provides the most approachable and cost-effective solution for creating interactive user experiences on the Web,” said Adam Berrey, vice president, ColdFusion business, Macromedia.
“By focusing on the key developer requirements — increased productivity, simplified management, and enhanced performance — ColdFusion 5 enables customers and partners to build and deliver the next generation of Web applications,” Berrey added.
Version 5 of ColdFusion is available in a variety of flavors: ColdFusion Server 5, Enterprise Edition for Windows; ColdFusion Server 5, Enterprise Edition for HP-UX; ColdFusion Server 5, Professional Edition for Windows; and ColdFusion Server 5, Professional Edition for Linux.
Solaris and Linux versions of Enterprise Edition are scheduled for release in August.
Professional Edition is priced at $1,295 per server, and Enterprise Edition is priced at $4,995 per server. Upgrades, two-year subscriptions, and volume licensing are available for all editions.
