Logica Monday announced it has allied itself with BEA Systems. The terms of the just-inked agreement will allow Logica to develop customized software solutions built on BEA’s WebLogic E-Business Platform.

Although BEA’s software has been the basis of Logica’s technology solutions for several years, the agreement formalizes a long relationship between the two companies and provides Logica with training and support for the full range of BEA’s products.

Logica Monday announced it has allied itself with BEA Systems. The terms of the just-inked agreement will allow Logica to develop customized software solutions built on BEA’s WebLogic E-Business Platform.

The BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform is a single solution designed for enterprise and e-business applications that require commerce, portal, integration, and Web services. It resides at the core of an operational support system Logica developed for large telecommunications companies, including British Telecom. The telecommunications giant currently uses a multiproduct operational support system built with BEA’s technology to enable its Ignite Content Hosting.

Initially, Logica will embed BEA WebLogic into two solutions designed for the financial services industry. The first, Continuous Linked Settlement, is a new system designed to reduce the commercial risk to both customers and banks in foreign exchange trade settlements. The second solution is a payments product that internally and externally optimizes liquidity on trade settlements.

“Having seen a huge amount of demand for e-business solutions in both the financial and telecommunications industries, Logica needed to establish an extremely resourceful approach to developing solutions,” said Gurdeep Grewal, business manager for eCRM at Logica.

“BEA’s products are an important enabling factor in the rapid development and market success of these Logica products. Our customers will be able to take full advantage of the power, flexibility, and high scalability of the BEA WebLogic E-Business Platform,” Grewal added.

Olivier Huck, vice president of Alliances in EMEA for BEA Systems added, “This agreement is important to both of our businesses, and more importantly, to our customers. It provides a framework for integrating the BEA E-Business Platform with Logica’s global solutions. Together, BEA and Logica can provide customers with an outstanding combination of technology, experience and expertise.”

Logica is a global solutions vendor that provides management and IT consulting, systems integration, products, services, and support.
