Gateway Inc. (GTW) Monday announced the 7450R, a powerful yet moderately priced 1U rackmount server aimed at growing enterprises.
The product is designed to maximize space without sacrificing features or performance. It is priced starting at $1,999.

The system’s 1.75-inch high space-saving design is ideal for small and midsize enterprises as well as Internet-based organizations, particularly ISPs and ASPs, that have growing server requirements but limited physical space.
“The combination of a full-featured server in an ultra-dense design makes the 7450R an ideal solution for our growing clients,” said Chris Norman, director of server product marketing, Gateway.
“The thin 1U form factor allows for easy deployment in any multiserver environment, optimizing limited computing space and maximizing performance,” Norman added.
The 7450R seeks to maximize space without sacrificing performance. It supports two of the latest Intel processors. The server has 4GB of RAM with room for expansion, offering three hot-plug SCSI drives, optional RAID configurations, and two full-length 64-bit PCI slots. The 7450R delivers a powerful solution. A robust cooling system consisting of dual high-powered blowers keeps the system running at optimal thermal temperatures.
Gateway’s Server Management solution, coupled with HP OpenView ManageX Event Manager, provides monitoring of critical system components to ensure uninterrupted maximum performance and reliability. In addition, the tool-free chassis makes servicing and monitoring the 7450R convenient for maximum uptime.
To complement the 7450R, Gateway also offers a full line of rackmount enclosures and accessories, including a 42U cabinet with room for up to 42 servers to be deployed in a single rack.
In addition to its release of the 7450R, on Monday, Gateway also reduced prices up to 18 percent across its entire family of servers to provide business, government, and education customers greater value.
