Fujitsu Software this week introduced Interstage Application Server v5 and simultaneously launched the Interstage e-Business Platform, a Web services solution that combines Web services functionality with enterprise infrastructure software and emphasizes the vendor’s commitment to open standards.
The Interstage Application Server is the foundation of Fujitsu’s Interstage e-Business Platform, a comprehensive suite of software that consists of an application server, a business process management engine, a portal server for presentation integration, a content integration server, and an application integration server.
Fujitsu Software this week introduced Interstage Application Server v5 and simultaneously launched the Interstage e-Business Platform, a Web services solution that combines Web services functionality with enterprise infrastructure software and emphasizes the vendor’s commitment to open standards.
Fujitsu already claims more than 31,000 Interstage Application Server installations worldwide, the bulk of which are in Japan. Customers come from 40 percent of the top non-U.S. based Global 20 corporations and include Matsushita Electric (Panasonic), Tokyo-Mitsubishi Bank, Subaru Telescope, Medical Benefits Fund (in Australia), and Attachmate Corporation.
The main changes in Interstage Application Server v5 are its support for open standards: Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Web Services Description Language (WSDL), Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI), and e-Business XML (ebXML), in addition to J2EE 1.3.
Version 5 also supports ebXML Web service linkage functions using ebXML, which allows seamless linkage with a variety of Web services. In addition, it offers enhanced interconnectivity with SOAP Expanding interconnectivity. Improved XML functions (through XLink support) provides support for the XML Linking Language (XLink), a specification recommended by the W3C for encoding a wide variety of links into XML documents.
The Interstage Application Server v5 will be available by late July.
