BEA Systems and BMC Software Wednesday revealed that they have partnered to offer mutual customers tools to improve the performance and reliability of their critical e-business applications and processes.

“By combining our core strength in enterprise management with BEA’s leadership in application infrastructure, we will be able to deliver products that offer the highest levels of performance and reliability for our service provider customers,” said Bob Beauchamp, president and CEO of BMC Software in a prepared statement.

BEA Systems and BMC Software Wednesday revealed that they have partnered to offer mutual customers tools to improve the performance and reliability of their critical e-business applications and processes.

“This alliance strengthens our ability to jointly approach the marketplace and provide our customers with both the infrastructure and tools they need to deliver powerful e-business solutions,” added Alfred Chuang, founder, president and CEO of BEA Systems.

Long term, the companies plan to collaborate in sales and marketing programs. They will offer access to each other’s technology road maps to better link product development cycles.

As for the more immediate future though, BMC has agreed to release compatible versions of Patrol for WebLogic following the release of new versions of the application server.

BEA, in turn, will make WebLogic available as the infrastructure provider for BMC’s newly announced GuardianAngel. BMC selected BEA because it felt BEA demonstrated clear advantages when proving WebLogic could meet BMC’s demanding performance and reliability requirements.

GuardianAngel offers end-user reports on the monitoring service being delivered by a service provider while simultaneously allowing the service provider to view all customers. It integrates with Patrol to better offer a complete service-provider-enabled management solution.

BEA, will also use SiteAngel internally in its own business operations to maintain availability and optimize the performance of its critical Web solutions.

SiteAngel is a Web-based service designed to enable enterprises to manage customer experiences on e-commerce sites. It is a “built on BEA” application that is platform and browser independent and can be accessed from any location. SiteAngel is scalable and Java based. One of its main functions is to help companies maximize their e-business return on investment by ensuring that transactions operate at peak performance levels. SiteAngel metrics are integrated and accessible through Patrol to give organizations a single view of total system performance.

BEA is also evaluating BMC’s Patrol enterprise management solutions for other critical, internal business applications. Information about Patrol on WebLogic, can be found on BEA’s site at http://commerce.bea.com/downloads/weblogic_server_security.jsp.
