The Dell PowerEdge MX840C is part of the PowerEdge MX kinetic infrastructure ecosystem. With dense compute, a whole lot of large memory, and an expandable storage subsystem, it delivers the flexibility and agility needed by demanding, shared-resource environments.

It is a double-width unit with up to four sleds inhabiting one PowerEdge MX7000 chassis. With either two or four Xeon Scalable processors per sled, that equates to up to 448 cores per chassis. In addition, it has up to 48 DDR4 DIMMs slots and up to eight 2.5” drive bays for SAS/SATA (HDD/SDD). It also has NVMe PCIe SSD support plus optional M.2 boot. Storage expansion is available from the PowerEdge MX5016s which accommodates up to sixteen 2.5-inch hot-pluggable SAS drives.

The PowerEdge MX architecture can disaggregate and granularly reassign resources. This enables system managers to maximize utilization, and avoid overprovisioning or stranded infrastructure. It has automated deployment and provisioning, as well as agent-free lifecycle management. The Dell EMC OpenManage Enterprise Modular Edition inside the MX7000 chassis makes it possible to unify and simplify management of compute, storage, and networking. Basic server setup can be done using Android or Apple mobile devices with Quick Sync 2.
