CodeWeavers, a Windows-to-Linux software developer, unveiled CrossOver Office Server Edition this week. An expansion of CodeWeavers’ CrossOver Office software, CrossOver Office Server Edition enables enterprise users to operate Windows software — including Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Lotus Notes, and Visio — in a distributed thin-client environment for both Linux and Solaris.

CodeWeavers recently announced its latest CrossOver Office Server enables Solaris and Linux clients to run Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and a variety of other Windows applications.

CrossOver Office Server Edition 1.3.1 supports the same applications as CrossOver Office 1.3.1. These include core office automation packages such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Internet Explorer. It also supports Lotus Notes and Visio 2000, Microsoft’s business and technical diagramming application. Support for additional client environments, like Windows, HP-UX, Apple, and SGI, is planned for future releases.

CrossOver Office Server Edition 1.3.1 is available immediately directly from CodeWeavers and its resellers. Server Edition is initially priced at $1,195 for the server software, with an additional $1,185 for a 25 concurrent user license. A 100-concurrent-user licenses cost $4,000. No restrictions are placed on the number of users running off of a single server, although customers may purchase additional server licenses at $595 apiece. Unlimited enterprise site licenses are also available.
