Fujitsu Software Corporation Monday introduced Interstage Application Server 4.0 to the U.S. marketplace.

Interstage has already achieved substantial market share in Japan where customers include half of the top-tier financial institutions, automobile manufacturers, and consumer appliance manufacturers.

Fujitsu Software Corporation Monday introduced Interstage Application Server 4.0 to the U.S. marketplace.

The app server aims to address the needs of systems integrators, independent software vendors, and enterprises.

By year end, Fujitsu Software anticipates that Interstage Application Server will be installed on more than 25,000 servers worldwide.

The app server is the foundation of the Interstage e-business software platform and is designed to provide an infrastructure that can deliver the highest level of performance, robustness, and scalability to enable enterprises to build and run mission-critical e-business applications.

Interstage Application Server 4.0 offers better interoperability and connectivity by providing full support for J2EE 1.2 and CORBA Technology Standards. This latest version also supports emerging standards in J2EE 1.3, including Java Connector Architecture for connecting different types of databases, and Message Driven Beans, which provides better enterprise application integration. In addition, Interstage Application Server 4.0 offers several features that provide exceptional reliability and availability, including session recovery, a hot-standby capability, and improved load balancing.

“Fujitsu has the vision and the core technology today to take a leadership position in delivering the next generation of e-business and B2B solutions. The Interstage Application Server meets and exceeds today’s demanding business requirements. A sound investment today, it is the foundation for tomorrow,” said Ronald Alepin, general manager of Fujitsu Software’s Enterprise Products Division in a prepared statement.

Interstage Application Server 4.0 will be available for beta next month and is expected to be generally available in the third quarter of this year.
