Bottom Line:
The big selling point of the DL325 is that it delivers two-processor performance with one-processor economics. This boast is backed up by single socket virtualization performance leadership in key virtualization benchmark.
As such, this unit goes head to head with two processor Intel Xeon servers, matching or closely matching them on performance. For similar configurations, it offers a lower price point.
The DL325 is particularly strong on virtualization, data intensive, and software-defined storage (SDS) workloads. And with the option of up to ten low latency NVMe drives, it is sure to tempt plenty of users away from competitive two-processor units. It can’t compete with the Lenovo SR950, which is five times the cost, but it is as good as it gets in 1-processor X86 performance servers.
Product Description:
The HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 is a one processor, 1U general purpose server which is said to deliver two processor performance. It features an AMD EPYC CPU with up to 32 cores and up to 2 TB of supported memory. It offers a dense platform with built-in security and flexibility. The HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 server is secure and versatile, with up to 16 DIMMs, and support for up to 10 NVMe drives. This EYPC-based platform is said to deliver 25% better price/performanceand 27% lower cost per VM than the previous generation.
The combo of HPE silicon root of trust and the AMD EPYC Secure Processor provide the level of security needed in the enterprise. New 64 GB RDIMM based on 16Gb technology providing better performance and higher power efficiency. Its dense chassis accommodates up to ten small form factor, up to four large form factor, or up to ten NVMe drive options as well as up to three PCIe 3.0 slots.
In addition, an embedded SATA HPE Smart Array S100i Controller ships standard, and an embedded 4x1GbE networking arrangement offers a choice of HPE FlexibleLOM or PCIe standup adapters (1GbE to 4x10GbE) and fabric adaptable to changing business needs.
