Sophos Monday unveiled MailMonitor for Exchange, the latest version of its anti-virus software

Sophos MailMonitor for Exchange v1.6 can scan all messages and files for viruses, Trojans horses, and worms regardless of entry route. MailMonitor scans all incoming e-mail, enabling network administrators to either disinfect, delete or quarantine infected messages before they move beyond the server.

The software works with Microsoft Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 (as well as Lotus Notes/Domino and SMTP) and is kept updated against the latest virus threats through Sophos’ real-time scanning, both on-demand and scheduled.

“Sophos’ early support for Exchange 2003 helps deliver a solution that gives our mutual customers a defense against virus attacks,” said Chris Baker, group product manager for Exchange at Microsoft.

“The most widespread viruses exploit email services to spread themselves,” said David Mitchell, product manager at Sophos. “Many companies will be considering upgrading their e-mail servers to Microsoft Exchange 2003 and will be looking for an established anti-virus vendor which can provide them with protection throughout that transition and into the future. Sophos is well placed to provide that protection against the hundreds of new viruses we see each month.”

The software is available for immediate purchase.
