Dell Computer Monday unveiled its latest Premier Services offering, the High Availability Computing Program.

The High Availability Computing Program combines PowerEdge server clusters, PowerVault storage systems, and commonly used software and services into what Dell describes as a ready-to-order, easy-to-install package designed for maximum availability.

Dell Computer Monday unveiled its latest Premier Services offering, the High Availability Computing Program.

The program is available only for U.S. customers.

Each package in the High Availability Computing Program is validated and tested prior to sale and includes Dell’s Gold-Level Premier Enterprise Support Service. Enterprise can also purchase, through Dell, consulting and deployment service options beyond those that come with the program.

The High Availability Computing Program is an extension of Dell’s Infrastructure Accelerators initiative, which seeks to help customers simplify and speed the deployment of database and business application software.

A standard high-availability cluster bundle is priced at approximately $40,000. It features two dual-processor PowerEdge 2550 servers, one PowerVault 210S for external storage, one PowerVault 120T for tape backup, clustering hardware, services, and the Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server operating system.

“Our high availability clusters are based on industry standard technology, giving our customers the benefits of increased uptime without having to resort to expensive proprietary architectures,” said Randy Groves, vice president and general manager of Dell’s Enterprise Systems Group.

“The goal of this program is to balance cost, complexity, and flexibility of enterprise computing, bringing an easy-to-use availability solution to customers from small businesses to the enterprise,” Groves added.

Other services available in Dell’s Premier Enterprise Services range from design, tuning, training, factory integration, and complex storage implementation to tiered support packages delivering the optimal level of system uptime.
