BladeLogic Sharpens Data Center Automation
Data center automation software vendor BladeLogic released version 7 of BladeLogic Operations Manager, its flagship infrastructure management suite earlier this week.Version 7 of the BladeLogic's data center automation software is out. New features include synchronization management and the Application Release Manager module.
The suite's three core components, Configuration Manager, Compliance Manager and Discovery Manager, have all been updated. A new module, Application Release Manager, has also been added to the mix.
New in version 7 is BladeLogic's Synchronous Management architecture. The Synchronous Management architecture enables IS organizations to manage, control and enforce changes to applications, and the underlying infrastructure throughout the enterprise.
In other words, "a change made anywhere is synchronized everywhere," a Bladelogic spokesman told ServerWatch.
The vendor believes this will be particularly valuable in configuration management activities that that involve disparate IT teams that are performing different management actions.
The other key addition is BladeLogic Application Release Manager. The module is designed to aid in the application release and deployment process. It automates the application packaging and promotion process across development, test and production environments.
It also offers hierarchical application environment models to support runtime parameterization of environment-specific configurations. It offers access controls to drive application promotion rules and ensure consistency in environments and release versions as well as eliminate errors associated with unauthorized package changes and promotions.
Other enhancements in the BladeLogic Operations Manager center around compliance and access control.
Audits can now integrate security, build, operational and regulatory policies with automated remediation and exception handling. Further, rules-based auditing can provide more accurate and granular audit results as well as improved visibility.
Version 7 offers configuration-level role-based access control to reduce security risks associated with granting too much privilege and to improve visibility into administrator activity.
This latest version of the software has been certified by the Center for Internet Security (CIS) to run on the AIX, HP-UX, Red Hat, Solaris and Windows Server operating systems. It thus lays claim to being the first data center automation suite to receive enterprise-level CIS certification.
The software is available for immediate purchase.
