Lucent VitalNet 9.0 software is now available to service provider and enterprise customers in a version that runs on Solaris.

According to the company, porting VitalNet software to the Solaris platform gives service providers a carrier-class and highly scalable network performance management software solution. VitalNet 9.0 customers can monitor network performance from Sun Solaris servers. The combination of the Sun Solaris Operating Environment and Oracle Enterprise Database Platform, the VitalNet 9.0 system is capable of scaling to more than 10 million network ports, all represented from a single Web interface.

"The Lucent VitalNet solution gives service provider customers a secure IP network management solution that proactively identifies network problems while offering real-time solutions," said Madan Kumar, vice president of the Network Operations Software Solutions Group in Lucent Technologies. "Now with the ability to run on the Solaris Operating Environment, we also offer our customers scalability and carrier-class reliability."
