Interphase Corporation announced its new 4576 PMC ATM over OC-3/STM-1 Communications Interface Card.

The 4576 is a modular, multi-application network interface card that's designed to suit bandwidth-intensive applications in carrier and enterprise environments. According to the company, the 4576 offers cost-effective, high-performance 155Mbps connectivity for a variety of enterprise and telecom network applications including Internet/telephony access, video conferencing, virtual private networks (VPNs), remote education and training, routers/bridges, data warehouse systems, DSL access multiplexers (DSLAMs), integrated access devices (IADs), gateways, IP switching and other applications that require the Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees provided by ATM. The 4576, a multi-application network interface card, is designed to suit bandwidth-intensive applications in carrier and enterprise environments.

On-board hardware features of the 4576 include redundant OC-3/STM-1 interfaces to offer reliability and network resiliency, automatic protection switching (APS) for path guarantees, support for ATM AAL0 and AAL5 adaptation layers, dual UTOPIA buses and support for up to 64,000 virtual connections (VCs). Its modular PMC form factor should allow the 4576 to comply with multiple platform architectures including CompactPCI, VME and proprietary systems, while a SAR chip application programming interface (API) and software suites for VxWorks, Solaris and Linux should allow for seamless integration with multiple host operating system environments.

Additional features of the 4576 include advanced diagnostic and configuration utilities, OAM status notification support, software-programmable status indicators and availability of multi-mode and single-mode fiber optical interfaces.

The 4576 is available now with a starting list price of $795. For more information, please visit the company's web site at www.interphase.com.
