ChatSpace Release Offers Multilanguage, Multiplatform Support

Chat server vendor ChatSpace Thursday released Community Server 2.1.

This latest version of Community Server supports multiple languages on a variety of interactive devices. The popular chat server is designed to enable users to chat free of platform contingencies and language barriers, whether they are on a PC, cell phone or PDA.

Chat server vendor ChatSpace Thursday released Community Server 2.1.

According to Taylor Nelson Sofres Intersearch, 11 percent of adults in the United States own a wireless Internet capable device; another 11 percent plan to purchase one within 12 months.

With 2.1, ChatSpace's interface will be available in Spanish, Chinese, Arabic and German, as well as any other language a customer may request, spokesperson for ChatSpace Sarah Ray told ServerWatch. Should a customer wish to translate the interface into a language not yet included, the organization can obtain the product at a discount, assuming it will give the modified code back to ChatSpace.

Community Server's Intelligent Access System (IAS) delivers messages to client devices and automatically selects the best client protocol from Java, JavaScript, WAP, or HTML. This aims to simplify the process on both the user and system administrator end, and results in a smooth and quick deployment of the chat client.

"Community Server 2.1 has opened up a world of opportunity for businesses that want to increase customer retention, traffic, and revenues. Multilanguage capabilities along with chat deployment to wireless devices more than doubles the potential audience for a online communities," said Eric Olinger, ChatSpace president and CEO in a prepared statement.

The ChatSpace Community Server is priced starting at $1,500. The international language module is $500. Other add-on modules include support live help and live events. Comparable hosted services are also available from the vendor.

Based in Carlsbad California, ChatSpace claims more than 10,000 Internet sites are using the product. ChatSpace clients include e-commerce and new media companies, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies. Services ChatSpace offers include chat rooms, instant messaging, e-mail, message boards, and hosting services.
