Halcyon Releases ASP Servlet

Halcyon Software, has released Instant ASP (iASP) version 1.01, a Java Servlet that supports both Active Server Pages (ASP) and JavaServer Pages (JSP) development and cross-platform deployment. iASP provides Microsoft-compatible ASP functionality and capability on Web servers, application servers, and operating system platforms - from NT to Sun, Novell, AIX, AS/400, S/390, Apple, OS/2 and Linux to Apache, Netscape, Websphere, and more.

iASP works by running in response to a client connection or request (typically from a Web browser) routed through the Web server. When the request reaches the Web server, it is redirected to the iASP engine. iASP processes the application pages and executes embedded scripts, computes the results, and returns the data, packaged in HTML, to the Web server. The Web server then transmits the HTML back to the client's browser. iASP replicates and extends the ASP environment and provides support for all standard built-in objects and installable components. iASP also supports VBScript, JScript, Perl, and JavaScript. While ASP gives developers access to NT/IIS-based development tools, components, and languages, iASP greatly extends this core functionality by providing support for Java, Java Server Pages, JavaBean, Enterprise JavaBean (EJB), CORBA components, and other Java platform technology.
