IE 5.01 SP1 already needs a fix
There has been a lot of talk about the coming of IE 5.01 SP1. Well, it is here and already needs a fix. I have been reading some mixed reviews about it and hearing about problems with it conflicting with Office 2000's Help feature.
There has been a lot of talk about the coming of IE 5.01 SP1. Well, it is here and already needs a fix. I have been reading some mixed reviews about it and hearing about problems with it conflicting with Office 2000's Help feature.I came across a Fix in a mailing that I am going to put into this article. If you are having trouble with your Office 2000 Help and you have recently installed IE 5.01 SP1, take a look at the following:
1. Launch regedit.exe.
2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer, and find the Build key. You'll see that its value is
5.00.3103.1000.
3. Change this value to the correct value of 53103.1000 (I've seen
fixes on the Web that suggest different values, but this appears to be
the correct one).
4. Close regedit.exe. After you make this change, Office Help will
work (you don't need to reboot your system).
I have not installed the latest IE here, but if you have, let me know what you think.
