Win95/Win98/WinME: 1. Check if the client subnet is added to the site boundaries, and more importantly the client subnet mask is a valid subnet mask. 2. Check if the WindowsTemp folder exist. If not create one.

WinNT/Win2000:

1. Check if the client subnet is added to the site boundaries, and more importantly the client subnet mask is a valid subnet mask.

2. Check if the Winnt\Temp folder exist.

3. Check if the TEMP and TMP variable point to the TEMP folder (can be any temp folder for e.g. c:\temp). This is configured from Control Panel->System->Environment.

3. Check if the domain administrator is a member of the local administrator. (This might be removed by some users) This enables the smsservice to be a member of local administrator and thus complete the client installation.

4. Check if the Admins$ share (which points to C:\WINNT folder or D:\WINNT folder based on whichever is the system drive) is enabled, because if this share is disabled, the installation cannot complete.
