Making the NT Logon Discovery Agent Dependent on the Net Logon Service
by Dana Daugherty
I was getting the "At least one service failed to start. Look at Event
Viewer etc...." when the BDCs in my implementation would start up. I
have NT Logon Discovery turned on. On boot SMS NT Logon Discovery
Agents are attempting to logon to the network before the Netlogon
Service starts. Event Viewer is showing this service as not having
logon access. But NT service manager shows its status as started. I
had to make this SMS service dependant on Netlogon. To do this
SMSDiscFix.reg sets HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SMS_NT_LOGON_DISCOVERY_AGENT
dependant on Net Logon.
Dana Daugherty offers this fix to force the NT Logon Discovery Agent to wait for the Net Logon service to start.
Simply
run this registry edit on any server that is experiencing the
problem.
If
you are suspicious of any .reg file simply right click on it and
select EDIT in order to see what it is going to do.
