How to Export SMS Status Messages Data
by Dana Daugherty
Microsoft's implementation of SMS using the MMC is a bit
inflexible when printing and exporting data is concerned.
Fortunately Status Messages can be printed and exported in a more
flexible format. In this article I'll show you how to do
it. Go to the System Status tree, open
Advertisement Status then open a specific advertisement in the left
pane. In the right pane right-click on a site, open Show Messages
and All. When the window comes up go to the file menu. Here you can
select "Print" or "Save As". My experience hasn't been good with the
printing option. I've gotten blue screens here
repeatedly. "Save As" allows you to save as a
.csv which can be opened in Excel, providing you with more options,
printing is obviously one of them. When you attempt to save the .csv
an options box pops up allowing you to print a selection or the
whole page. It also give you other options including Exported
Details. If you select the View menu this same option box pops up
allowing you to change viewing details in the Status Message
Window.
