"Nusphere's 9 MySQL v1.13.6 is an integrated MySQL/Apache/Perl/PHP kit that can save developers -- especially less experienced ones -- a good deal of time setting up a full-featured and up-to-date Web database development environment. A year-long subscription to the package with email and Web support and bi-monthly CD updates sells for 99."

"The Nusphere installation CD supports Windows, Unix, and Linux versions that include Slackware 7.0 as well as Red Hat 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0. Linux installation is done via a browser, which need not run on the target machine. Both easy and custom installation options are offered, along with a choice of installation directories. This results in an instantly pre-configured development environment, albeit one with non-standard file locations. For this reason, Nusphere MySQL is probably more appropriate for development machines than production servers." In addition to the 3.23.32 version of MySQL -- one that Nusphere staff made significant contributions to -- the package contains Apache 1.3.14 (with optional SSL), Perl 5.6, and PHP 4.04, all latest versions as of January 2001. It also includes Webmin 0.84, a Web-based system administration tool that will appeal to Linux newbies.
