March 2002 Netcraft Survey Highlights

The Netcraft Web Server Survey is a survey of Web Server software usage on the Internet. Netcraft received responses to its March 2002 survey from 38,118,962 sites. This is a slight decline from February's 38,444,856 responses.

Apache, Microsoft, iPlanet, and Zeus remained the key players with shares of 53.76 percent, 34.02 percent, 2.33 percent, and 2.24 percent, respectively. Apache and iPlanet experienced a decrease in the number of servers, while Microsoft saw its presence increase, and Zeus, in essence, remained flat.

NT-specific servers accounted for 34.28 percent of responses. Apache-specific servers accounted for 55.25 percent. Macintosh-specific servers comprised 1.05 percent.

Of the servers surveyed, 19,885,475 had .com domains.
