RIM Offers Free BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software

Research in Motion (RIM) is offering free enterprise server software that wirelessly syncs BlackBerry smartphones with Microsoft Exchange or Microsoft Small Business Server systems. According to the company's press release, the software, called BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express will be provided free of charge to Small to Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs).
"Users will be able to wirelessly sync their email, calendar, contacts, notes and tasks, remotely manage email folders and search messages on the mail server, book meetings, edit MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint files using Documents To Go, access files stored on the company network and set an out-of-office email reply.
"BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express works with Microsoft Exchange 2010, 2007 and 2003 and Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008 and 2003, and uses the same robust security as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server."
