Microsoft Releases Free IIS Lockdown Tool
September 5, 2001
If you are concerned about security in your environment following the latest spree of Code Red viruses, you might want to continue reading.
Microsoft has released a free tool to clamp down security on their IIS servers to protect against these and other such viruses. I guess this showed a few loopholes and flaws in their Web server product and they have released this product to combat those.
The tool offers you 2 different ways of locking down your server. The first will allow the system itself to correctly configure for maximum security and the second will allow you as the administrator to configure the settings.
