Bristol Technology Announces New Version of Cross-Platform Software

September 13, 2002

With the release of Wind/U 5.0, Bristol Technology says that it is extending its Wind/U cross-platform software to include tight integration with the Bristol companion product, Tributary, which allows clients to develop for both UNIX and Windows platforms using Microsoft Visual Studio. Wind/U 5.0 also includes updates to current versions of Solaris, Red Hat Linux, HP-UX, and IBM AIX.

According to the company, Wind/U lets software developers use a single source code base for porting Windows applications to UNIX. Wind/U is designed to shorten development cycles, lower software maintenance and developer training costs, and generate a higher return on investments. With Bristol's Tributary product now included in Wind/U, Windows development and UNIX porting may become a seamless endeavor enabled by the Visual Studio Windows environment. Tributary is designed to extend the Visual Studio development environment by leveraging existing tools knowledge and investment, to develop, modify, and build applications for non-Windows platforms. p> Wind/U 5.0 is available immediately on Solaris 7 and 8, RedHat Linux 7.2, Hewlett-Packard HP-UX 11, and IBM AIX 4.3.x. Wind/U is also available on SGI IRIX 6.5, HP/Compaq Tru64, HP/Compaq OpenVMS, and IBM OS/390.
