Stalker Software Adds Multimedia Messaging Capabilities to CommuniGate Pro

Stalker Software this week announced that its CommuniGate Pro mail server now supports Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS).

MMS is a new text standard used for multimedia messaging. MMS is currently deployed in Europe and Asia, and it is starting to exhibit increased penetration in North America. MMS is designed to enhances mobile communication through advanced interactive applications, including games, multimedia phones, and m-commerce.

With these new capabilities, Stalker Software believes that CommunigCommuniGate Pro able to serve as the access point and storage backbone for the deployment of advanced wireless multimedia applications. It enables users to send photos, sounds, graphics and videos between mobile devices.

CommuniGate Pro supports more than 25 operating systems through its messaging solution that is optimized to provide e-mail, collaboration, and wireless and voice messaging on a single message store. The product offers an open, standards-based architecture to provide high-performance integrated messaging delivery of many types of content on a centralized platform.

According to Gartner Dataquest, worldwide revenue from all forms of mobile messaging is expected to almost double to $22.3 billion by 2006 from $13.4 billion in 2001.
