Several companies announced today that their products support the latest update to Sun's UNIX operating environment. Solaris 9 OE is available for SPARC systems and provides over 300 new features and supports more than 12,000 applications.
Everett Plante, the senior vice president of technology solutions and product development with Manugistics, said: "We are jointly optimizing Manugistics 7 on Solaris, a preferred platform for a growing number of Manugistics customers, and look forward to offering our joint customers the benefits of Sun's open, extensible architecture."
Doug Kennedy, a vice president in the Platform Technologies Division at Oracle, said: "With the introduction of Solaris 9, customers can upgrade their operating system to further drive up service levels and take advantage of dramatically improved performance without any changes to their existing Oracle applications."
Solaris 9 is optimized for Oracle9i Real Application Clusters via Sun Clustering, which allows resource management and provisioning of portions of the SunPlex environment.
VERITAS Software and Sun enhanced their long history of partnering last month when Sun announced its participation in VERITAS Enabled, an industry-wide technology partner program designed to improve the interoperability of multi-vendor solutions in complex, heterogeneous storage environments. Today, VERITAS announced that its industry-leading VERITAS Foundation Suite storage management software is available to Solaris 9 customers.
Vignette, Sun's Independent Software Vendor (ISV) of the year for 2001 in the United Kingdom, also says their content management solutions support the new Solaris 9 OE.
Sun also announced that other companies, including BEA, BMC, Borland, J.D. Edwards, SAP, SunGard, and Sybase, are taking advantage of the enhancements to Solaris 9 OE.
