Green computing is as much about saving money as it is about resources. Nowhere is this more apparent than IT. Each Monday, the Enterprise IT Planet Green Blog reports the latest environmental-related IT news. Below are some of this week's stories.


  • Organizers and researchers of the Sixth Data Centers Europe 2010 conference announce that APC by Schneider Electric will be demonstrating how to provide energy while addressing energy efficiency legislation.

  • Altruent Systems, a systems integration company headquartered in Raleigh, N.C., that specializes in the consulting, design and installation of mission-critical infrastructure, announces that it has completed a new energy efficient data center for Sanford-based The Pantry.

  • Voonami unveils a computing facility claimed to be the greenest in Utah, using an evaporative cooler to trim energy costs by up to 80 percent compared to a typical data center.
Among the big news this week in green data center management: APC will demonstrate how to provide energy while addressing energy efficiency legislation; Altruent Systems announced it has completed a new energy efficient data center for one of its key clients; and Voonami is unveiling what it claims is the greenest in Utah.
