The offering presents customers with "an affordable server solution with enterprise-class technology that allows them to be more competitive," Frank Muehleman, senior vice president and general manager of Dell's small and medium business division, said.
The PowerEdge 400SC server is now available preinstalled with Windows Small Business Server 2003 Standard Edition, which includes the Windows Server 2003 operating system and Exchange Server 2003 messaging software, starting at $999.
Without the software, the PowerEdge 400SC retails starting at $499 (although a $100 mail-in rebate is currently available, reducing the price to $399).
Dell is also offering Windows Small Business Server 2003 across its line of PowerEdge SC and select PowerEdge tower servers.
Bill Veghte, corporate vice president of the Windows Server group at Microsoft claims the preinstalled solution will enable organizations to be up and running in as little as 15 minutes.
