Key features in the new release are a built-in SMS gateway and the capability for users to receive faxes in PDF format. The new version also supports Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003.
GFI FAXmaker for Exchange 10 supports Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003 as well as Windows 2003 server modem drivers (which removes the two-line limitation posed by older Windows drivers).
GFI FAXmaker's SMS gateway enables users to type and send SMS messages much faster from their computer than from a mobile phone pad, and it allows them to use their corporate e-mail address book for recipient mobile numbers.
The SMS gateway also grants organizations central control of SMS usage and integrates seamlessly with Exchange Server. Therefore, any application that can generate e-mail can send notifications via the SMS gateway, enabling organizations to SMS-enable any corporate application.
In addition, the SMS gateway implements an SMS server that can use multiple mobile phones. Alternatively, users can subscribe to an Internet-based SMS service if that is their preference.
"The immense popularity, high reach and immediacy of SMS makes it well-suited to many business uses," said Nick Galea, GFI CEO. "GFI FAXmaker now unlocks the power of SMS to the enterprise: Its SMS gateway enables companies to leverage SMS in their organization in a cost-effective, practical and controlled manner."
The other key feature in this version of GFI FAXmaker is the option to receive faxes in PDF format. Faxes received in the PDF viewer can be forwarded to external parties who do not have a GFI FAXmaker viewer, or they can be integrated with document management and text archival systems.
Other new features in GFI FAXmaker for Exchange 10 include:
- Brooktrout TR 1034 support
- The capability to auto-print based on the DID number on which a fax was received
- Auto-stamping facility to automatically stamp inbound faxes
- An improved user interface to further ease administration
Standard GFI FAXmaker for Exchange features include a multiline fax server, inbound fax routing, a print-to-fax driver for Windows, support for server-based rendering of Office documents, and fax management features.
A 25-user version GFI FAXmaker for Exchange is priced at $825, and a 100-user version is $1,995. A free trial version is available.
