Cognos Series 7 Achieves SunTone Certification
Cognos announced that its Cognos Series 7 achieved SunTone Certification for applications. Cognos Series 7, an enterprise-class BI solution, is designed to offer performance, reliability, and scalability, as well as operational event detection and alerting to wireless devices. Cognos' Cognos Series 7 has achieved SunTone Certification for applications. Cognos Series 7, an enterprise-class business intelligence solution, is designed to offer performance, reliability, and scalability, as well as operational event detection and alerting to wireless devices.
The SunTone Certification initiative, led by Sun Microsystems, promotes 7-by-24 service and reliability as a norm for consumer and business Internet-based services. The initiative is designed to help customers identify strong Web-based services and application suppliers that meet defined standards for providing products and services over the Internet.
By achieving SunTone Certification, Cognos says that it demonstrates its commitment to providing customers and partners with solutions that deliver high-level performance, security, and availability on the Sun Solaris platform. Also, because it uses Sun's Solaris 8 Operating Environment and Sun Fire 4800 server, Cognos claims that it proved to support a minimum of 16,000 named users with a mixed processing response time of less than nine seconds.
"Within our customers' complex global supply chains, access to information surrounding movements and events is often more valuable than the underlying parts or inventory, and Cognos business intelligence delivers," said John Hasenzahl, director, Knowledge Services and Data Management, Schneider Logistics. "Cognos performs extremely well in our environment, providing us with the performance, scalability, and Unix support that allows us to continue to deliver new business intelligence solutions to manage and grow our customer base."
"SunTone Certification demonstrates our ability to meet the rigorous standards set forth by industry-developed standards to provide enterprise customers with top performing, scalable business intelligence solutions to drive corporate performance management," said Patrick O'Leary, vice president of strategic alliances, Cognos. "Building on the long-standing relationship with Sun, Cognos is delighted to continue to extend our alliance with this certification, continuing our commitment to addressing the high standards of the SunTone initiative."
