Fujitsu Adds CLARiiON CX400 to Server Line
Fujitsu Technology Solutions announced that it will add the new EMC CLARiiON CX400 storage system to its array of storage products. Fujitsu Technology Solutions announced that it will add the new EMC CLARiiON CX400 storage system to its array of storage products. With the combination of the storage system and its new PrimePower Extended Architecture Servers the company claims a solid Solaris Environment.
According to the company, the CX400 complements the PrimePower product line by delivering enterprise-level functionality and good price performance for customers with entry-level storage requirements. The combination of PrimePower and the CX400 may provide a scalable and affordable entry point solution that features all of the software functionality of the CLARiiON family while supporting high availability and clustered environments.
The company beleives that as performance, scalability, and connectivity requirements grow, the CLARiiON CX series can grow as well, offering a data-in-place upgrade to the CX600. The integrated offering of Fujitsu's midrange PrimePower 650 with the CLARiiON CX400 may provide a high density compute node with storage and take advantage of both server and storage scalability. The combination of the CX400 cached bandwidth rates of 680 MB/s and the performance of the PrimePower 650 may also provide customers with a platform for high-volume transaction-based database processing.
Coupled with Managed Services from Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Fujitsu's PrimePower Solaris-compatible servers and the EMC CLARiiON CX400 aims to provide a complete and highly available Unix offering for customers. The company claims that together, the combined solution beats other solutions on availability, price/performance, and management of customer IT assets, and it offers customers the most powerful and scalable Solaris-compatible servers on the market (which can be coupled with the high availability PrimeCluster solution).
List price for entry-level configurations of the PRIMEPOWER 650 and the EMC CLARiiON CX400 combination start at less than $130,000.
