Turbolinux this week announced a Turbolinux 7 Server for IBM eServer iSeries that is based on the 64-bit Linux kernel.

Turbolinux 7 for iSeries is the second Turbolinux distribution designed to run on the iSeries platform.

Turbolinux 7 for iSeries supports English, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese with the unified code base. It is a complete Linux server distribution that includes the Linux operating system, database applications, an Apache Web server, a SAMBA network file server, sendmail mail server, C programming language application development tools, an FTP server, DNS, telnet, and Squid.

The distribution also includes IBM’s Java 1.3.1 and an ODBC driver for connectivity to OS/400’s DB2/400 database.

Turbolinux released its initial product for iSeries in August 2001. In addition to iSeries, Turbolinux currently supports IBM’s G4, G5, G6, MP2000, and MP3000 systems as well as the pSeries and zSeries.

Turbolinux 7 Server for IBM eServer iSeries is available immediately.

Pricing is based on system configuration specifications, and support and service requirements.
