Zeosoft produces ZeoSphere, an enterprise-class Java-based application server for wireless handheld computing devices.
ZeoSphere allows direct device-to-device data queries and application requests with or without a connection to the enterprise. Its open standards architecture supports Java by leveraging Sun Microsystems' J2EE specification.
Michael Huestis, Zeosoft's chief technology officer and senior vice president of marketing and sales, said the reason the company chose to partner with PointBase was "because their robust Java database manages the critical data that delivers meaning to the applications we power on mobile devices."
Under the terms of the agreement, the wireless applciation server will use the PointBase Micro relational database to provide local persistent data capabilities in business applications. The two vendors believe that the combined technologies will enable developers to create full n-tier peer-to-peer, and peer-to-enterprise solutions that support wireless integration to enterprise data and applications.
"PointBase and Zeosoft represent true 'foundation technologies' that make extending real business processes to mobile devices a reality," said Cameron McEachern, executive vice president for marketing and sales at PointBase.
"Zeosoft's ability to enable enterprise-to-device, and device-to-device interaction, running on PointBase's scalable database, opens a significant window in functionality for mobile application development," McEachern added.
