Advanced server and networking software company Swsoft announced the release of Xlswitch, a Linux-based traffic, bandwidth and content management solution for web, mail and Internet application servers.

Features include graphical multiplatform management tools that allow administrators to create complex configurations, including load balancing, content redirection, traffic shaping and prioritization.

According to Swsoft, Xlswitch is able to deliver high performance rates by moving most of the code into the O/S kernel and using innovative algorithms for TCP-splicing and other operations. The softwares modular architecture allows administrators to support new protocols, the company said.

"From the very beginning, Xlswitch was designed to be easily extendable," said Alexey Kuznetsov, who led the Xlswitch development team. "You can add a module to support new application protocols, and you can even add controls for it in the GUI tools. We supply an SDK and documentation for developers, as there are many people who would like to customize their setup, and, most importantly, who are knowledgeable enough about Linux."

Xlswitch is available as an independent product for installation by a network administrator or can be purchased with Swsoft professional services.
