In an attempt to even the distribution playing field, Stratus Technologies, Inc., Monday announced the Stratus ftServer Partner Program.

This new international distribution channel will be made up of value-added resellers, system integrators, independent software vendors, distributors, and OEMs that will exclusively market and sell Stratus’ ftServer systems.

In an attempt to even the distribution playing field, Stratus Technologies, Inc., Monday announced the Stratus ftServer Partner Program.

Stratus also announced on Monday the appointment David Fleck as director of Channel Sales to oversee these new developments.

“ftServer systems give resellers an unfair competitive advantage,” said Mariam Ganem, Stratus vice president of Sales Operations and Channels.

“These systems are engineered to prevent downtime from occurring. There simply is no other ‘load-and-go’ server with higher levels of uptime reliability. If an application is written for Windows 2000, it will run unmodified, out-of-the-box on an ftServer system. The fact that this is also the simplest and most cost-effective solution for business-critical computing will give our channel partners a powerful answer to the availability demands of their customers,” Ganem added.

Thus far, 63 partners in 20 countries have signed on to sell Stratus’ family of Windows-2000-compliant, low-cost, fault-tolerant servers. Channel partners include CTC/Itochu Techno-Science, Mitsubishi and Toshiba in Japan; Oasis in China; Lighthouse, TriTech Software Systems, and LEVEL II in the United States; Procomp in Brazil; Brainconsult in Germany; Intertrade in Slovenia; La Dedicace Informatique in France; CSI in Switzerland; ALTEC in Greece; GT Computadoras S.A. de C.V. in Mexico; and Logica in Italy.

Stratus has structured the partner program so that those involved have additional ways to earn revenue. Partners can elect to make service referrals to Stratus, integrate their support operations with Stratus’ electronic service infrastructure, or act as a customer’s primary Stratus-certified service provider. Partners can also offer customers a “100 Percent Availability Program,” which covers the ftServer hardware and software and the Microsoft Windows 2000 OS kernel. For those ISV partners whose applications are ftServer-certified, this program can extend to cover application software.

Stratus also appointed a new director Monday. It announced that David Fleck joined the company as director of Channel Sales. Fleck will be responsible for developing, recruiting, managing, and expanding the Stratus ftServer Partner Program in North America.
