The server was described as "a lightweight, embeddable server engineered exclusively to execute JSP and Servlet code along with HTTP, JSP, and Servlet services," by John H. Capobianco, general manager marketing strategy, HP Middleware Division.
HP Internet Server is the first server that HP has built on its Core Services Framework, the company's standards-based foundation for rapidly developing Web-enabled application services and one of the first reference implementations of the Java Services Framework specification.
"HP Internet Server embodies HP's service-centric computing model by enabling the integration of discrete, best-of-breed service components from third parties with a developer's own custom application components to yield complete, cutting-edge solutions," Capobianco said.
HP Internet Server is expected to be available in mid-July as a free download from the company's Web site.
