Availant, a leading provider of software and services that keep business-critical computer systems up and running 24/7/365, this week entered into an agreement with Compaq Computer Corp. to provide Availant Manager on all new Compaq ProLiant servers.

Availant Manager, which runs on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows NT server, is intelligent availability management software that automatically acts to prevent system failure. With Availant Manager, system administrators can increase overall system availability by defining goals and rules that automatically detect and prevent issues associated with CPU use, disk capacity, memory capacity and network connectivity on Microsoft Windows servers.

"Customers are telling us that they are constantly challenged to improve systems availability in a resource-constrained environment, and our agreement with Availant responds to customer needs by providing a first step towards self-healing systems," said Mike Clark, Compaq's vice president, high availability and manageability, Industry Standard Server Group.
