Apunix, an industry leader in multimedia kiosk solutions, has deployed JMF and Java technology-enabled kiosks for such companies as Alamo Car Rental, New Line Cinema, the San Jose Sharks and Andronico’s Market. ”JMF has enabled us to provide our customers with kiosks delivering high quality, fast performing video and audio,” said Sylvia Berens, Vice President and co-founder of Apunix. ”Multimedia is a key component of kiosk technology and Apunix has found JMF to be the only true cross platform solution.”

VideoSpheres Inc., an emerging leader in the development of infrastructure for managed digital video services over IP networks, uses JMF on their media server. ”We recognized the benefits of Java and JMF’s support of open standards, that’s why JMF was the clear choice for VideoSpheres when we evaluated what technology to use for our flexible media server architecture,” said Todd White, Chief Technology Officer at VideoSpheres.

Availability of JMF: Sun Community Source Licensing Program (SCSL) and

Java Community Process(SM) Program (JCP)

Source code for JMF 2.1.1 will be made available under Sun’s Community Source Licensing program (SCSL). SCSL is a flexible source licensing model that allows for publicly available source, and supports focused enhancement by a community of dedicated developers. Furthering its commitment to work with the Java community on future Java software development, Sun has carried out all JMF development efforts under the Java Community Process(SM) (JCP) Program.
