Seagate i365 Combines Backup With Cloud Server Recovery

As reported on Enterprise Storage Forum, Seagate's cloud-based services arm, i365, has married its online backup and recovery services with cloud server recovery with a round of enhancements to its EVault Remote Disaster Recovery (RDR) Service. New enhancements to the EVault RDR Service include support for IBM i, IBM AIX, and Linux, in addition to Windows and VMware.
The cloud-based i365RDR Service helps customers bring up mission critical applications in a virtual environment.
"EVault RDR is a hosted Cloud-based service that facilitates application recovery after a disaster by restoring servers and applications within an i365 data center. Once recovered at an i365 site, customers can remotely access and use those applications in a secure virtual environment until the primary site is up and running.
"Billed as an alternative to expensive equipment rental programs or co-location services, the i365RDR Service is a cloud-based managed service that helps customers bring up mission critical applications in a virtual environment, according toi365’s director of product management, Karen Jaworski."
