"Lance will also be leading two breakout sessions on Monday, April 19 focused on using flash arrays to accelerate Exchange and databases on blade servers. Tier 0 storage provides several advantages for applications such as databases and Exchange. However, the form-factor of bladed servers (which tend to be popular platforms for these applications) precludes the use of dedicated flash resources such as SSDs or PCIe flash cards. Flash arrays that utilize PCI-Express interfaces offer an option for bladed servers to connect to high-performance flash resources, without paying the management and performance penalty associated with fabric-based (FC, FCoE, InfiniBand, or iSCSI) solid state resources."
