SGI Announces the InfiniteStorage Server 3500

SGI has announced availability of its new InfiniteStorage Server 3500 (ISS3500). Designed for HPC and enterprise applications, the company calls its new storage server a 'solutions-focused platform' aimed at environments in which data and compute need to be tightly coupled. Also mentioned in the company's news release on Market Watch is that the ISS3500 features the latest Intel dual-socket processors to provide full x64 application compatibility, and is available with a variety of standard storage protocols, including iSER, iSCSI, NFS and CIFs.


SGI has released InfiniteStorage Server 3500, a fully integrated storage server that offers high density and power efficiency.

"ISS3500 in a 4U chassis features 36 drive bays for 3.5" SATA, SAS and SSD drives to pack up to 72TB into a single system at a price point of less than $0.90/GB. The ISS3500 also includes high-availability features as standard, including redundant power supplies and a redundant, hot-pluggable cooling system.

"ISS3500 features the latest Intel dual-socket processors to provide full x64 application compatibility.
